Michael Rye

Michael Rye was an American actor whose decades-long career took in radio, television, animated cartoons and video games. Born in Chicago, he got his start during the Golden Age of Radio and averaged forty network radio shows a week, playing leads in Ma Perkins, Guiding Light, Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy, This Is Your FBI, Lux Radio Theater and Suspense. He narrated an audio adaptation of The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. When television arrived he moved into animation, and he was perhaps best remembered as the voice of the Lone Ranger in the animated series that ran from 1966 to 1969. His Hanna-Barbera credits included Scooby-Doo, Challenge of the Superfriends, Super Friends and The Flintstone Kids, and he was cast in Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears as King Gregor and Duke Igthorn. He appeared on screen in Dr. Kildare and 77 Sunset Strip and later worked in video games. He died in 2012.
