Melissa McBride
Biography
Melissa McBride is an American actress from Lexington, Kentucky, who started out in 1991 in television commercials before guest roles in dramas such as Matlock, Walker, Texas Ranger and Dawson's Creek. During the 1990s she took supporting parts in made-for-television movies, among them Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999), and she later worked for a decade as a casting director in Atlanta while appearing in short films. Frank Darabont cast her in The Mist (2007), and she appeared in the Lifetime movie Living Proof (2008). Her breakout came as Carol Peletier in AMC's The Walking Dead, a role that grew from recurring player to series regular and opening-credit billing; critics praised her work, and she won two Saturn Awards for Best Supporting Actress on Television plus nominations for Critics' Choice and Fangoria awards. She returned to the character in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, taking a lead role and executive producer credit in its second season.
