May Craig
Biography
May Craig was an Irish actress who performed with the Abbey Theatre from 1916 to 1968. Born in Dublin, she was first billed as May Craig in 1907, at the premiere of The Playboy of the Western World. She toured North America six times with the Abbey company and was regarded as one of the senior character actresses of Ireland. Her American debut came in 1932 at the Ambassador Theater in New York, where her roles included Autumn Fire, King Oedipus and The Well of the Saints. On stage she also appeared in A Disciple in 1931 and In Search of Valour in 1947, playing Mrs. Maher. Her films included The Quiet Man (1952), The Rising of the Moon (1957) and Girl with Green Eyes (1964). She died in 1972.
