Lindsay Beamish

American actress and professor Lindsay Beamish is best known for playing Severin in Shortbus (2006) and Jamie in Forgetting the Girl (2012). She began acting as a child in 1980s television movies and later appeared on series such as Gilmore Girls and Six Feet Under. She starred in Miranda July's Nest of Tens during the late 1990s and into the mid 2000s. Her performance in Shortbus earned praise from David Ansen in Newsweek and a Gotham Award nomination. In Forgetting the Girl, her acting drew praise from David DeWitt in The New York Times. She also devised, directed, and starred in the multimedia pieces 38 1/2 and Wigs, and in 2018 she appeared in the Apollinaire Theater Company's staging of Winter Solstice. In 2019, she directed, wrote, and starred in The Institute for the Opposite of Longing, an award-winning work that ran in Boston and Los Angeles.
