Joyce Taylor
Biography
Joyce Taylor was an American actress who appeared in movies and on television chiefly in the 1950s and 1960s. She grew up in Taylorville, Illinois, and took her professional name from that town. After a performance in a school talent show brought her a recording contract, she sang in amateur shows from the age of ten, turned professional at fifteen, and signed with Mercury Records, where she was billed as Joyce Bradley. By sixteen she was performing at Chicago's Chez Paree and other nightclubs of that kind. During the 1950s she was under contract to RKO Pictures, then owned by Howard Hughes, who permitted her just one film role, a minor part in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956). Once that seven-year deal finished, she joined the science fiction adventure series Men into Space from 1959 to 1960 as a regular and appeared in numerous other television programs and several features.
