John Warwick
Biography
John Warwick, born John McIntosh Beattie, was an Australian actor who also wrote plays and television dramas, and his work took him to the United Kingdom and New Zealand as well as his own country. His career in the industry lasted more than 50 years. He was on the stage from the early 1920s and made his start in Australian films in the early 1930s. He was credited with introducing Errol Flynn to acting: the two were acquaintances in Sydney, and Warwick took him along to a casting session during the making of In the Wake of the Bounty. After he moved to England he trained at Harrogate Theatre with the White Rose Players, a repertory company. His writing for the stage included Waiting in the Wings and Daphne Laureola, both from 1965. He died in 1972.
