Joanna Pettet
Biography
Joanna Pettet was an English-Canadian actress who began on the New York stage and worked in film and television. Born in 1942, she spent her early childhood in Chelsea, London, and moved to New York City as a teenager to train at the Neighborhood Playhouse under Sanford Meisner. She made her Broadway debut at 19 in Take Her, She's Mine, appeared in Poor Richard, and won a Theatre World Award for 1964 to 1965. After guest roles on American television, she was cast in The Group (1966), which launched her film career. Her films included The Night of the Generals (1967), Casino Royale (1967), Robbery (1967), Blue (1968) and The Best House in London (1969). She starred in many television movies, including The Weekend Nun (1972) and Cry of the Innocent (1980), and in 1983 took a recurring role on Knots Landing. She retired after appearing in the 1991 thriller Terror in Paradise.
