Herbert Bunston
Biography
Herbert Bunston was an English actor who worked on both stage and screen. He was born in Charmouth and spent a short time at Cranleigh School in Surrey before turning to acting. In 1922 he moved to the United States. His Broadway debut came in 1923 with Arthur Wing Pinero's The Enchanted Cottage. After short runs in That Awful Mrs. Eaton! and in Simon Called Peter, he earned notice in Young Woodley, which ran for 260 performances in 1925. In 1927 he first played Dr. John Seward in the Broadway Dracula, opposite Bela Lugosi. The success of his stage work earned him a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and from 1929 to 1935 he appeared mostly in character roles in more than 30 films. In 1931 he reprised his stage part in the film Dracula. He died in 1935.
