Greg Melvill-Smith
Biography
Greg Melvill-Smith was a South African actor who also worked as a director, writer and voice artist and helped found the South African Guild of Actors. After completing a diploma he became a member of NAPAC's Loft Theatre Company in 1985 and spent three years with it, then worked as a freelance actor in Johannesburg from 1988. His stage credits included The Queen (1995), King Lear (1998) and Vlerkdans (1999), and he wrote and directed the play Walking Tall as well as directing operas such as Don Pasquale in 2001. On television he was best known for Die Vierde Kabinet, 7de Laan, One Way and Isidingo, and he later played Admiral Hennessey in Black Sails. He made his film debut in Blind Justice in 1988, and his films included Mr. Bones (2001) and District 9 (2009).
