Biography

Graeme Blundell is an Australian actor and writer who has also worked as a director, producer, playwright, lyricist and biographer. He began performing in student theater at the University of Melbourne before working at venues such as La Mama Theatre, the Pram Factory, Hoopla, the Playbox Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company. At La Mama he directed and acted in the premiere of Jack Hibberd's play Dimboola. On television he began with an uncredited bit part in the first episode of Homicide in 1964. He became best known for playing the title character in the sex comedy Alvin Purple (1973) and its sequel Alvin Rides Again (1974). Blundell has written for The Australian, authored biographies of Brett Whiteley and Graham Kennedy, and from 2011 hosted Sunday Night at the Movies with Graeme Blundell on Fox Classics. He also joined Margaret Pomeranz on the Foxtel Arts film and television program Screen.
