Frank Buxton
Biography
Frank Buxton, born in Wellesley and raised in Larchmont, New York, was an American actor, television writer and director, and author. He studied at Northwestern and Syracuse universities, then began acting in summer theater, appearing in Three Men on a Horse opposite Buster Keaton at 19. He worked as a producer and director at Chicago's WGN-TV and at Buffalo stations, did stand-up comedy in clubs, and toured Australia as Albert in Bye Bye Birdie. From 1962 to 1966 he hosted and produced the ABC documentary series Discovery, and in 1966 he voiced the title character of the animated series Batfink through 100 episodes. With Bill Owen he co-wrote books about the golden age of radio. He later wrote and directed for Paramount Television, including episodes of The Odd Couple, Mork & Mindy and Happy Days, and his NBC series Hot Dog won a Peabody Award in 1970.
