Floyd Vivino
Biography
Floyd Vivino, who performed as Uncle Floyd, was an American entertainer whose work spanned television, film, radio and the stage. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, he started out as a young tap dancer in Atlantic City and worked in pirate radio while in high school. He was best known for The Uncle Floyd Show, a comedy and variety program that ran in New Jersey and New York between 1974 and 1998. It borrowed the surface of children's television while delivering deliberately strange, improvised humor for adults, with puppetry, character bits, musical guests and Vivino at the piano. The program built a cult following and a fan club of 13,000. His film credits included Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Crazy People (1990) and Big Money Hustlas (2000). He also appeared on Law & Order and Cosby and hosted The Italian-American Serenade on radio from 1987 to 2013. In 1999 he set a Guinness World Record for continuous piano playing.

Vivino earned a Guinness World Record in 1999. He played a piano without stopping for 24 hours and 15 minutes.
First role
Vivino started out in live performance as a tap dancer when he was a child in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While he was in high school, he also began broadcasting on a friend's pirate radio station.
A role that slipped away
For Vince Giordano's 2020 recording of "Ain't Misbehavin'", Vivino got the vocalist job, yet a scheduling conflict with an appearance forced him out, and Loudon Wainwright III took his place.
Behind the camera
For the Italian Tribune, Vivino was master of ceremonies at its Columbus Gala for many years and also wrote a weekly column called Italian American Serenade about Italian and Italian American topics and culture from 2000 to 2026.
