Fernando Chien
Biography
Fernando Chien, a Taiwanese-Canadian actor and stunt performer, has also been credited as Funan Chien. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, he moved to Canada and developed an interest in acting, performing in musical theater productions in college. In his twenties he began training seriously in martial arts, studying Hung-Gar Kung fu in Montreal, Quebec. Chien relocated to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue film and television work, later alternating between acting and stunt performing, joining the action team Reel Kick, and studying at Lee Strasberg Studio and Michael Beach's Actors Gym. His film work includes Fast Five (2011), Red Dawn (2012), Iron Man 3, Crank, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. On television he has appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise, NCIS: Los Angeles, and The Guild. He played President Peng Wu in a recurring role on TNT's The Last Ship in 2016.

Early training
At the Hayastan MMA Academy, Chien was a student of Gene LeBell and Gokor Chivichyan. He now trains at the Werdum Combat Team with Andrew Hagar and Fabricio Werdum.
Own stunts
Chien practiced Taekwondo and Karate at age 6, but he began studying martial arts more seriously in his 20s, when he learned Hung-Gar Kung fu in Montreal, Quebec.
