Erik King
Biography
Erik King is an American actor best known for playing Sergeant James Doakes on Showtime's Dexter. Born in Washington, D.C., he trained at Duke Ellington High School of Performing Arts and later attended Towson University in Baltimore. He appeared in early television roles on shows including Matlock, NYPD Blue and JAG, and in 1990 he starred in Sunset Beat, a short-lived ABC police drama. He played Moses Deyell on HBO's Oz and Bobby Davidson on Missing Persons, and his film credits include Casualties of War (1989), True Crime (1999), Desperate Measures (1998) and National Treasure (2004). On Dexter, he played Doakes in 26 episodes from the 2006 pilot through the final episode of the second season in 2007 and returned to the role in a 2012 episode. His performance brought him a 2008 Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor on Television.
