Eddie Tagoe

Biography

Eddie Tagoe is a Ghanaian actor and musician who settled in Britain, having first come to London to study reflexology before a Ghanaian government grant allowed him to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He is best remembered for small supporting turns in two well-known films, appearing as a pirate in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and as the hippie Presuming Ed in Withnail and I (1987), a part he played again in a stage version in 2000. His first film, Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978), handed him a much bigger role, and he was Chocolate Mousse in the farce Top Secret! (1984), while Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend (1985) cast him as Sgt. Gwambe. He also worked steadily on British television, notably The Bill, and played percussion on the Matata single I Feel Funky. He later returned to reflexology, working with Newcastle United in 1995.
