Biography

Duncan Preston is an English actor from Bradford, West Yorkshire, known for television work written by Victoria Wood. He appeared in the soap opera parody Acorn Antiques and played Stan in the sitcom dinnerladies from 1998 to 2000, and in 2005 he returned to Acorn Antiques: The Musical! as Clifford. His television credits include DS Todd in EastEnders in 1987, Dr. Jonathan Haslam in Surgical Spirit from 1989 to 1995, and Doug Potts in Emmerdale between 2007 and 2011 and again from 2014 to 2020. On film he appeared in Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?! (2014) and the horror film Howl (2015). On stage he performed for the Royal Shakespeare Company and played Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird in 2006, and from 2002 to 2012 he co-starred in Trueman and Riley, a BBC radio crime drama. In 2002 the University of Bradford awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters.
