Debbie Gibson
Biography
Debbie Gibson is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who grew up in Merrick, New York. After her demo reached an executive at Atlantic Records, she signed with the label, and her debut album Out of the Blue, which she wrote and largely produced, was certified triple platinum. Its single Foolish Beat, which she wrote, produced, and performed, topped the Billboard Hot 100, making her the youngest female artist to do so. Electric Youth, her second album, spent five weeks atop the Billboard 200 and gave her another number one with Lost in Your Eyes, and in 1989 ASCAP named her Songwriter of the Year with Bruce Springsteen. She has recorded through the 1990s and 2000s, while her acting includes Broadway and touring musicals, playing Eponine in Les Misérables and Sandy in Grease, and films such as Coffee Date (2006), Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009), Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (2011), and Summer of Dreams (2016).
