David Ladd

David Ladd is an American producer for film and television who also acted. Born in Los Angeles, he is the son of actor Alan Ladd, and he began his Hollywood career as a child. In 1957 he took a supporting role in The Big Land, and his performance as a mute boy in The Proud Rebel (1958) opposite his father won him a Golden Globe as Best Newcomer of 1958, a special Best Juvenile Actor award, and a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He followed that with films including Misty (1961) and appeared in many television shows. Later screen credits include Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1973) and The Wild Geese (1978). As a producer, his first solo credit was The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), and he formed Pathe Films with Alan Ladd Jr before serving as an MGM executive, where he worked on Get Shorty (1995).
