Danny Pino

Biography

Danny Pino is an American actor from Miami, Florida, who graduated from New York University's Graduate Acting Program in 2000. He gained notice for his portrayal of Armadillo Quintero, a Mexican drug lord, on FX's The Shield. From 2003 to 2010 he played Scotty Valens, a detective, in the CBS drama Cold Case. In 2011 he joined Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where he stayed until 2015 as NYPD Detective Nick Amaro. His film credits include The Lost City (2005), Flicka (2006), and Dear Evan Hansen (2021). On television he has also played FBI agent John Bishop in Gone and cartel leader Miguel Galindo in Mayans M.C., and he appeared in London's West End in 2002 in Up for Grabs. He wrote two episodes of Cold Case, played Desi Arnaz in a 2003 CBS special, and his award record includes two wins and five nominations, all tied to that CBS show and the NBC crime drama.
