First role
Dan Gilvezan's first voice-over role was Spider-Man in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, a part he kept for three seasons after meeting an agent while doing an on-camera commercial in 1980.
A role that slipped away
Gilvezan auditioned for both Spike Witwicky and Bumblebee on The Transformers, but the producers gave him only Bumblebee because they did not want one actor playing both characters.
Early training
In 1973, Gilvezan acted in the touring group of Wayside Theatre, and Kathy Bates performed in that same group with him.
Getting ready for a role
On Jem, Gilvezan had a few guest parts, and he played Sean Harrison, a recurring character, with a British accent. Sean was one of Kimber's crushes and came close to proposing to her when season two ended.
A first
Gilvezan returned to the Spider-Man universe after a 25-year gap to voice Miguel O'Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, in the video game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
Behind the camera
Gilvezan has also published books. One is Bumblebee and Me: Life as a G1 Transformer, in which he looks back on his time working on the original Transformers animated series and how it shaped his life and career.
