Colin Hay

Biography

Colin Hay is a Scottish-Australian musician who came to prominence as the lead singer of Men at Work and later built a solo career. Born in Kilwinning, Scotland, he emigrated to Melbourne as a teenager. He and Ron Strykert started as an acoustic duo in 1978, then added Jerry Speiser and Greg Ham to form Men at Work, whose albums Business as Usual (1981), Cargo (1983) and Two Hearts (1985) preceded the group's 1986 break-up. Hay issued the single Hold Me and the album Looking for Jack in 1987, set up his own label Lazy Eye Records in 1994, and that same year entered the ARIA Hall of Fame with Men at Work. He has recorded many solo albums, toured as part of Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, and taken small acting roles in films such as Cosi (1996) and The Wild (2006) and in television series including Scrubs.
