Byron Kane

Byron Kane was an American radio and film actor and producer, born in Vermont and raised in California, who was known for his voice work and for his collaborations with Blake Edwards. He started in radio in the summer of 1940, at seventeen, when he auditioned for Norman Corwin and won a part in a Forecast episode opposite Lurene Tuttle and Margaret Sullavan. He provided narration for the 1944 short Polly Wants a Doctor, was part of Orson Welles's Mercury Theatre on the Air, and appeared on programs including Gunsmoke, Suspense and Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. He was associate producer of Edwards's detective series Peter Gunn and played Barney the bartender, voiced Peter Jones on the animated The Hardy Boys, and performed on Sears Radio Theater. His film work included The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), and his final acting appearance was in Edwards's S.O.B. (1981). He died in 1984.
