Bob Elliott

Bob Elliott was an American comedian and actor best known as half of the comedy duo Bob and Ray, and for his radio character Wally Ballou, a reporter. He was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, and began in radio in the late 1940s at Boston's WHDH on Matinee with Bob and Ray alongside his longtime partner Ray Goulding. The pair moved into television, and their Bob and Ray show ran from 1951 to 1953. In 1970 they debuted on Broadway in The Two and Only, working together until Goulding's death in 1990. Elliott's screen work included Author! Author! (1982), Quick Change (1990), and Cabin Boy (1994), a Tim Burton production, along with made-for-TV movies such as Between Time and Timbuktu and FDR: A One Man Show. He also appeared on Happy Days, Newhart, and Saturday Night Live, made commercials, and co-wrote humor pieces for Mad Magazine in the 1950s. He died in 2016.
