Beth Ditto

Beth Ditto is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who also works as a radio presenter. She is best known as the frontwoman of the indie rock band Gossip, which she led from its 1999 formation until it broke up in 2016, and which later reunited. Born in Searcy, Arkansas, and raised in that state, she drew notice for a voice compared with those of Tina Turner, Etta James, and Janis Joplin. Away from the band, she released her own Beth Ditto EP in 2011, sang on records by Simian Mobile Disco and Blondie, and in 2012 published a memoir, Coal to Diamonds, written with Michelle Tea. Her first screen acting role came in Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot (2018), directed by Gus Van Sant, and she later played Gigi Roman, a country singer, in the Fox drama Monarch in 2022. She has also presented programs on BBC Radio 6 Music.
