Barbara Murray
Biography
Barbara Murray was an English actress born in London whose busiest period was the 1940s and 1950s, when she often played a leading lady in British films. Her film work included Passport to Pimlico (1949), Doctor in the House (1954) and Meet Mr. Lucifer (1953). She continued making films in the 1960s, including The Punch and Judy Man, but worked increasingly in television. From 1964 she played Mrs Hauksbee in seven episodes of adaptations of Kipling's Plain Tales from the Hills. She was possibly best known as Lady Pamela Wilder in the 1960s drama The Plane Makers and its sequel The Power Game. Other television credits ranged from Danger Man, The Saint and Department S to The Pallisers, in which she had a major role as the wealthy foreign widow Madame Max Goesler, and later series such as The Mackinnons, Doctor Who and The Bretts. She died in 2014.
