Asier Newman

Asier Newman is an actor who was spotted at 17 by a London modeling agency and later did commercials for Cadbury's and Heinz. He adopted the stage name Ash Newman, and at 18 he was cast as Arlo Dean on the Channel 5 soap Family Affairs, a role he played from 1999 to 2000. His British television credits also include Casualty, The Bill, and Footballer's Wives. In 2003 he appeared as Juan, a Spanish squire, in the second season of CITV's BAFTA-winning Sir Gadabout. His first feature, Shem, earned him the New York Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize for Best Actor in June 2004, making him the youngest winner of that honor. Katrina Bayonas later introduced him to writer-director Julio Medem, who gave him the lead male part of Anglo in the psychological thriller Chaotic Ana (2007). Sean Ellis then cast him as Lena Headey's brother in the horror thriller The Broken (2008).
