Arline Judge

Arline Judge was an American actress whose career centered on low-budget B movies. She left New Rochelle College to pursue acting. She began on Broadway in musicals and revues, including The Second Little Show and Silver Slipper, and a part in George White's Scandals let her show her comedy and dancing. With director Wesley Ruggles's help, she started in films, was nicknamed One-Take Sally, and worked through the 1930s and 1940s. She reached her peak in her first Hollywood years, starring in pre-Code pictures such as The Age of Consent and Sensation Hunters, made at poverty row studios, while taking supporting roles in major studio releases. She specialized in earthy women of questionable virtue. After her career faded in 1936, she returned five years later to star and leading-lady parts, though after 1945 all her films used her in support. She co-starred in When Strangers Meet (1934) and made television appearances, the last in 1964 on Perry Mason.
