Anthony Warde

Anthony Warde was an American actor who racked up more than 150 movie credits between 1937 and 1964, most of them as a heavy. Raised in Danbury, Connecticut, he got his start on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse and with the Federal Theatre Project before touring with the Eighteen Actors dramatic group in 1940. He began his Hollywood career with Escape by Night (1937) and became one of the busiest henchmen in the serials of the 1930s and 1940s, playing bodyguards, rustlers and gangsters in The Masked Marvel (1943) and other chapter plays, and he was best remembered as the gangster ruler Killer Kane in the 1939 serial Buck Rogers. He also took character parts in low-budget crime and Western films and made television appearances in the 1950s. His final screen role came in The Carpetbaggers (1964). He died in 1975.
