Biography

Alexander Petrov is a Russian actor who trained in directing at GITIS before turning to acting. Born in Pereslavl-Zalessky, he worked in Moscow theater, joining Et Cetera in 2012, where he played Graziano in Shylock, based on Shakespeare's The Venetian Merchant, and moved to the Yermolova Theatre in 2013, taking the role of Hamlet. His screen debut was a small part in the 2010 television series Voices, and in 2012 he had a major role in While the fern is blooming. In 2015 he played police officer Zhenya in The Method and the lead, Andrei Trofimov, in Fartsa. He portrayed Nikolai Gogol in Gogol. The Beginning (2017) and had a main role in the disaster film Attraction (2017), later returning as Artyom in Invasion (2020). In 2018 he acted in the figure-skating musical romance Ice (2018). Kinopoisk named him the most popular Russian actor of 2017.
