Alex Dimitriades
Biography
Alex Dimitriades is an Australian actor of Greek descent, born in Sydney and raised in Earlwood, who first drew national attention as Nick Polides in the romantic comedy The Heartbreak Kid (1993) and then played Nick Poulos in the teen drama spin-off Heartbreak High. He earned critical acclaim as Ari, a troubled second generation Greek Australian, in Head On (1998), winning Best Actor from the Film Critics Circle of Australia and an AFI Award nomination. His film work includes the Hollywood features Ghost Ship (2002) and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005), plus The Kings of Mykonos (2010) and Summer Coda (2010). On television he appeared in Blue Murder, Neighbours, Wildside and Underbelly, and he won an AACTA Award for The Slap (2011) and a Logie Award for The Principal (2015). He has also toured with the Wogboys stage shows, performed in theater productions, and works as a DJ.
