Biography

Aileen Pringle was an American stage and screen actress who worked mainly in silent films. Raised in San Francisco and educated in Europe, she built a career in early Hollywood. Her first roles brought only modest success, but she kept working into the early 1920s. A breakthrough came with Stolen Moments (1920), opposite Rudolph Valentino. Elinor Glyn then chose her to star in the 1924 film version of Three Weeks, with Conrad Nagel, and the part made her a leading lady. In the late silent and early sound years she appeared with Lew Cody in light pictures including Adam and Evil (1927), the 1927 release Tea for Three, and A Single Man (1929). Other credits were Dream of Love (1928) and Wall Street (1929). As talking pictures changed the industry, she took smaller and sometimes uncredited parts. She retired from the screen by the late 1940s and received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star for her film work.
