Plot summary

Ryuichi Sakamoto has spent decades moving between pop music and film scoring, from his techno-pop years to an Oscar-winning score. The documentary was shot over five years, beginning in the summer of 2012, after a shift in his artistic style. Following the 2011 earthquake and the nuclear accident at Fukushima, he became a prominent figure in Japan's movement against nuclear power. During the shoot he is diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer and undergoes treatment. Much of the filming happens while he works on the score for a feature, and the camera watches him collect ambient and natural sounds and set them beside man-made ones.
