Plot summary
Paul McCartney and Wings spent 1975 and 1976 on the Wings over the World tour, the largest the band ever undertook, and it yielded both the triple live album Wings over America and a concert film. Cameras followed the North American leg, capturing shows in New York, Seattle and Los Angeles. The set list draws on the Beatles and on Wings, among them Venus and Mars, Jet, Band on the Run, Lady Madonna and Silly Love Songs. A cut-down version reached theaters and then home video, and years afterward a complete restoration from the original 35mm negative arrived with remixed surround sound.

- Rockshow's sound and picture did not always match: several song introductions were taken from the Seattle show while the performances came from Los Angeles, including "Magneto & Titanium Man", "Spirits of Ancient Egypt", "Lady Madonna", "Let 'Em In" and "Soily". "Medicine Jar" and "Letting Go" were also edited down.
- After its early 1980s home video releases, no feature-length version of Rockshow was available to the general public for 31 years, because Paul McCartney remained reluctant to make the entire film available on VHS or DVD.
- Paul McCartney and Wings' 1980 concert film Rockshow holds a distinction beyond music: it was the first film ever released by Miramax Films.
