Plot summary
Rachel works as a consul at the U.S. embassy in Mexico City and is about to leave for London. On the eve of her goodbye party, her co-workers throw her a celebration, and Alejandro, a Mariachi singer and single father, performs there with his band. He tries to get her attention. Rachel drinks too much and leaves, and he finds her trying to sleep at a bus stop and brings her to his apartment. In the morning she wakes with no memory of the night and cannot find the laptop her boss left in her care. Alejandro, whose visa application for his daughter Maria she turned down the day before, offers to help her search for it.
