Plot summary
At Hamilton High's 1957 prom, Father Jonas attacks a couple in a car. Fellow priests lock him in a church basement and keep him drugged. Decades later at St. George Church, young Father Colin is assigned to guard him. Colin stops the drugs, and Jonas wakes and escapes. Meanwhile Mark, his girlfriend Meagan, Laura and her boyfriend Jeff skip their prom to celebrate their graduation at St. Basil Seminary, long abandoned and converted into a summer home. They find the electronics and appliances stolen but decide to stay. Jonas, now free, makes his way to the seminary and stalks the group.

- Producer Peter Simpson hired Richard Beattie to write Prom Night IV, wanting a more "intellectual" and "sardonic" approach than earlier franchise entries; Simpson later said that approach failed and partly blamed his choice of director Clay Borris, who he felt was better suited to low-brow action films.
- The Club was intended to be the fifth film in the original Prom Night series, but producers decided the Prom Night name was losing its drawing power and released it as a standalone film without the name.
