Plot summary
In Paris, the Ministry of the Interior sends Melissa to photograph the everyday work of the BPM, the police division that protects children. She watches the detectives take in cases of abuse, question parents suspected of mistreating their children and deal with teenage pickpockets and runaways. Their chief, Baloo, keeps a tight rein when a suspect has powerful friends. Between cases the squad gossips, quarrels, drinks and dances, and the work puts their marriages and other relationships under strain. Fred, the most sensitive of the detectives, is uneasy about her presence, while Melissa befriends the team and shares their long working days.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Polisse (2011)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Maïwenn got the idea for Polisse from a television documentary about the Child Protection Unit, was allowed to stay with the officers to research them, and based every case in her screenplay on what she saw or on older cases the officers told her about.
- Keeping the defendants' verdicts from the audience was a deliberate choice in Polisse, because the Child Protection Unit police officers themselves seldom get to learn the verdicts.
