Plot summary
The litter is born on the campus of Guide Dogs for the Blind to one of its breeder dogs, and at two months old each puppy goes to a volunteer puppy raiser: Patriot to Nick, Phil to Patti, Poppet to Cathy, Potomac to Linda and Primrose to Rebecca. Raisers keep a dog for fourteen to sixteen months, continuing its basic training, and community representatives from the organization visit often to check on progress. Nick and Patti are each raising their first dog for Guide Dogs for the Blind; Linda is on her second, Rebecca her seventh and Cathy her eighth. A puppy can be career changed at any point during that period.
