Plot summary
Peter Kasimsiman grows up with a father, Mang Poldo, who treats him badly. Doña Biday, a rich woman with a good heart, gives him a home and a comfortable life. Somewhere along the way the money and the position change him. After Doña Biday dies he becomes haughty, shouts at the people who work for him, and drives the estate's horses past their strength. When one of those animals dies, Diobayo, the goddess of horses, lays a curse on him: each time he loses his temper or does something spiteful, he becomes a horse. In that shape he is found by Erickson, a man who once worked for him and does not know who the animal is; Erickson gives the horse the name Petra and puts her to work pulling his calesa. Only kind acts can bring Peter back.
