Plot summary

The Kavumpattu family owns the college in Peruvannapuram, and Kunju Lakshmi, its pampered youngest daughter, is used to her brothers' indulgence. The peon's job at the college had been promised to Keeleri Padmanabhan in return for a donation he never delivered, so Sivasankaran arrives to take the post instead, and Padmanabhan, encouraged by the villagers, sets out to make him quit. Padmanabhan presses Sivasankaran for money, and the work turns out to include chores for the family, among them carrying Kunju's lunch, which she mocks. When Sivasankaran refuses to pay further, an incident at the family's coconut estate leaves him accused of theft, and the grandmother speaks for him. A classmate's love note to Kunju is then blamed on Sivasankaran; she and her brothers confront him, and he announces that he will marry her within fifteen days.
