Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film's revenge plot came from the life of Kuriyachira "Thampan" Purushan, a neighbour of writer Syam Pushkaran in Thuravoor, who was publicly beaten when he tried to break up a fight and vowed to wear slippers again only after avenging himself; his attacker had gone to Dubai, so he waited three years.
- Costume designer Sameera Saneesh dressed the cast entirely in secondhand clothes bartered from local residents in exchange for new ones, because director Dileesh Pothan wanted the film's details to look realistic.
- Fahadh Faasil injured his leg in September while filming a stunt with co-star Sujith Shanker in Cheruthoni; though advised to rest for two days, he carried on because the shooting schedule was tight.
- To create the sound effects for the climactic fight, the team used a big piece of meat to mimic punches and kicks, a process that took a long time and much trial and error.
- The film's two fight scenes were shot without any rehearsal for realism, and director Dileesh Pothan wanted the climactic fight to look natural rather than cinematic; Fahadh Faasil and Sujith Shanker had a tough time shooting it.
- About 1,000 fake milkweeds were made from lightweight materials for the film; in the scene where Crispin cuts them down, most floated upward like real ones and the shot had to be re-taken several times.
- Composer Bijibal first recorded the song "Idukki" with a small orchestra, singing it himself; his later version with a lush orchestra was turned down by director Dileesh Pothan, who felt it lacked the original's beauty and kept the first recording in the film.
- A song called "Ethetho", written by M. R. Jayageetha, was recorded but left out of the film; it was later used with Telugu lyrics in the Telugu remake Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, and the original was released on Bijibal's official YouTube channel in August 2020.
