Plot summary
Zhang Chi has chased rally driving since childhood and has won the Bayanbulak Rally five times, reaching the top of Chinese racing at 32. Money problems draw him into illegal drift racing, and a suspension keeps him out of the sport for five years. During that time he brings up Zhang Fei, an orphan boy, as his own son, and the two of them live on what he earns at food and book stalls. He is barred from driving, so he simulates rally stages with things around the house to stay sharp. Once the five years pass he asks for his racing license back, and his old co-driver Sun Yuqiang leaves a job as an amusement park mascot to rejoin him. Lin Zhendong, who now rules the Bayanbulak Rally, challenges Zhang over who truly owns that race.
