Plot summary

News of his mother's death brings Bo Dan Wu back to the Matsu Islands, to the village he left behind. He has spent his working life at a telecommunications firm in Taipei, and the two had long been estranged. In Qinbi Village he learns that local custom binds him: he must marry within 100 days, or put off any wedding for three years. He has no wish to marry. His stepbrother Zhen Fong is to wed Xiao Wei, his fiancée of many years, in three days, and Bo Dan Wu recognizes in her the sweetheart of his boyhood. When a typhoon strands him on the island, the two are left facing what they once had.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about 100 Days (2013)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • While shooting 100 Days in the Matsu Islands, the production team was strandered on the island several times by typhoons, echoing the plight of the film's protagonist.
  • Director Henry Chan picked Qinbi Village on Beigan Island as the film's main setting because the village appeared "untouched by time" and could work as a character in the story.
  • Filming in Matsu proved costly because the islands lacked filmmaking infrastructure, forcing the crew to ship equipment and personnel, including trucks, cranes, generators and extras, over to the island.
