Plot summary
Anna Maria is an Austrian woman of middle age who lives by herself in Vienna. She cleans her house and works at a hospital, and she gives her love to Jesus, praying and punishing her body to hold off the temptations of the flesh. She also belongs to a small ultra-religious group devoted to returning the Catholic faith to Austria, and she spends her free time knocking on doors in poor districts where many immigrants live, offering God to the people inside. The reactions she meets vary. At home her past comes back to her: Nabil, the Muslim husband she has not seen for years, arrives in a wheelchair and asks for part of the love she keeps for Jesus.
