Plot summary
Pundarika Ranganathudu follows Krishna for the wrong reasons. He copies only the god's mischief, pays no heed to his father or his mother, and when the family tells him to marry he runs off from the village, returning after they perform a yagnam. Lakshmi, in the next village, worships Krishna with devotion. Krishna visits her in a dream and tells her to wed Pundarika. Her father carries the proposal to the young man, who turns it down; Lakshmi then persuades him herself, and he consents to the marriage. Not long after, a dancer called Amrutha comes to the village. Pundarika, given to sensual pleasure, is captivated by her and enters into a relationship with her.
