Plot summary
In 1936, under the British Mandate, villages across Palestine rise against colonial rule, and the Palestinian population unites in the largest and longest uprising of the Mandate, a revolt that runs for three years, from 1936 to 1939. All sides move toward collision, and the confrontation is set to decide the future of the British Empire and of the whole region. Jews escaping antisemitism in Europe keep arriving in rising numbers, and some of them arrive with nefarious Zionist-colonial ambitions. In the middle of this, Yusuf divides his time between his rural home and Jerusalem, hoping for a life beyond the unrest.

- The film was banned from screening in Jerusalem; during a police raid on a screening in East Jerusalem on 22 January, Israeli police alleged the projectionist was showing a film promoting work by a terrorist organization. The production company denied the allegations, and director Annemarie Jacir appealed the ban.
- Principal photography was set to take place in Palestine, but the Gaza war in 2023 postponed production. Once the production returned and finished, it became the only feature film to shoot in Palestine in the past two years.
- The film's story is drawn from the 1936-1939 Arab revolt against British colonial rule in Palestine during the Mandate period.
