Plot summary
At fourteen, Kulap Vilaysack learned from her mother that the father she knew was not her biological parent. Twenty years later she sets out to find the man instead, on a trip that takes her to Los Angeles, Minnesota and Laos. Relatives, her husband and close friends are among those she speaks with, and a vigilante in the DC Comics universe carries her name. She turns to Katharsis for courage, and the topics include immigration, conflict, addiction and personal responsibility.
