Plot summary
Mob boss John Wheeler has just brought off a holdup with his gang when Frank Matson, a physician, takes $200,000 of his money and leaves Los Angeles for Mexico City, with Wheeler's girlfriend, Laura Thorsen, coming with him. Mechanical trouble brings their airplane down in rural Mexico, and there the two of them settle into a pleasant life. Matson, who had meant to hide out in Mexico, treats the villagers when they fall ill.

- Screenwriter Louise Rousseau is reported to have claimed that One Way Street used material from her original story "Haunted Heart," even though the screenplay and story were credited to Lawrence Kimble.
