Plot summary
A toxic, flammable substance called plazma has poisoned the landscape. From a private island, the media boss Plutonovich rules the airwaves and punishes dissenters for the entertainment of the crowds. O'Dessa is the seventh in a family line of wandering musicians known as ramblers. When her mother dies she inherits her father's guitar, burns down her house and sets out for the dangerous Satylite City. On the road the guitar is stolen and pawned. Chasing it down brings her to Euri Dervish, a musician in the service of Neon Dion, Plutonovich's chief enforcer.
