Nocturnal (2025) on Netflix

Plot summary

Seok-tae, a gangster who uses drugs, is found dead, and investigators treat the death as suspicious. His brother Min-tae, who has kept his distance from the criminal world, sets out to find whoever is responsible, while Seok-tae's wife Cha Moon-young and the couple's child disappear and the police open their own investigation. Before he died, Seok-tae had a hand in drug sales tied to the son of a wealthy CEO, who slips into a coma after taking narcotics that were said to come from Seok-tae. Chang-mo, the gang boss Seok-tae answered to and a one-time superior of Min-tae, warns him off, hinting that powerful people are involved. Attention turns toward Moon-young, and toward her link to the novelist Kang Ho-ryeong, whose book Nocturnal describes events much like Seok-tae's death and was written before it happened.
