Plot summary
A documentary looks at how money can be used against American news organizations. The first strand follows the lawsuit that professional wrestler Hulk Hogan filed against Gawker Media over a sex tape of him and Heather Clem, asking $100 million in damages. The case, Bollea v. Gawker, is backed by the billionaire Peter Thiel, who had wanted the website brought down since it published an article nine years earlier that outed him as gay. The film then turns to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, sold to a buyer whose identity is kept from the journalists who work there. Management denies that the Adelson family is behind the purchase. Reporters at the paper begin calling their contacts to find out who owns them.
